I want to extend an invitation to any of you who are not already committed to a fall Bible study to join us for a study of Revelation, Part 2, which will begin later this month. Part 1 is not a requirement to study part 2 since the focus of this study is much different that the first part. This study will cover chapters 4-22 and will deal with end-time events. Please don’t let the enemy convince you that you could never understand the book of Revelation. The Lord tells us in the very first verse of the book that He gave the Revelation “to show to His bondservants (that includes believers today) the things which must soon take place.” God wants us to be informed about the end times. You’ve probably heard people say, Oh, they’ve been saying for 2,000 years that Jesus is coming back, and He hasn’t come back yet. Well, He promised that He is coming back, and He always keeps His promises. Incidentally, that word “soon” doesn’t mean “immediately.” It means that once the end-time events are set in motion, they will occur in rapid succession. That’s just one tidbit that we learned in Part 1, and it’s so much easier to understand now that we have witnessed how drastically our lives and our culture have changed over the past eighteen months. I won’t sugarcoat it; this Bible study is in-depth and requires about five hours of homework per week. However, if you don’t have that much time to devote, you may choose the In and Out (taking it in, living it out) version which only requires about one hour per week. Precept workbooks are $27, and the In and Out books are $21. This course is twelve weeks long and will be offered on Tuesdays from 1-3 and on Sundays from 5-7. The Tuesday class will begin on August 24, and the Sunday class will begin on August 29. Our goal is to be finished before the Thanksgiving holiday.

It all began with the Word. The opening chapters of Genesis teach us fundamental truths about God. We watch Him bring light after darkness, order after chaos, and rest after toil—all through the power of His Word. Over 10 sessions of verse-by-verse study, dive into Genesis 1-11 by following three critical stages of understanding: comprehension, interpretation, and application. Revisit familiar stories and historical figures, challenge your basic knowledge, and discover deeper meanings in the text. As God reveals Himself through Scripture, we can only begin to understand ourselves when we first glimpse the character, attributes, and promises of our Creator. The cost of the book for this class is $16, Classes will begin August 25.

Imagine walking the dusty roads of Galilee with Jesus of Nazareth—braving jostling crowds just to touch the edge of His cloak and hear Him say, “Take heart, daughter, your faith has healed you.” Those words, once meant to comfort a hurting woman’s soul thousands of years ago, were also meant for you. Join biblical culturalist Kristi McLelland on those dusty roads as she transports you back to Jesus’ world, following in the footsteps of the women who came face-to-face with the Living God. Over 7 sessions, examine the historical and cultural climate of first-century Middle Eastern society to not only understand Jesus more deeply but to fuel your worship of Him today. There is no cost for this class. Classes will begin August 25.

women's ministry

WHAT IS WOMEN'S MINISTRY?

The purpose of LBC's Women's Ministry is to love God, love women, and make disciples.

WHO IS THIS MINISTRY FOR?

The Women's ministry of LBC is for all women of LBC.

WHERE AND WHEN DOES WOMEN'S MINISTRY MEET?

Front Porch Devotions: last Saturday of the month at 9:00 a.m.

The Joy Makers: Tuesdays at the church from 10:00-12:00

Bible study on Wednesday nights from 6:15-7:00

Precept Bible studies on Sunday nights from 5:00-7:00

WHY I SHOULD CONSIDER BEING INVOLVED WITH WOMEN'S MINISTRY?

You should consider being involved in Women's Ministry because we can accomplish more for Christ when we are all participating.

I HAVE NEVER BEEN INVOLVED WITH THIS MINISTRY. WHAT WOULD BE MY FIRST STEP TO GET INVOLVED?

If you want to get acquainted with Women's Ministry, there are many places you can start. If developing friendships is your priority, you might try Front Porch Devotions (fellowship, prayer, devotion). This group usually meets the last Saturday of the month at 9:00 a.m. in someone's home, and the location rotates. Everyone brings a food item to share, the hostess shares a devotion, and group shares prayer requests and then closes with prayer. The Joy Makers is fellowship-oriented as well as service-oriented. They meet on Tuesdays at the church from 10:00-12:00 and send greeting cards, make salvation bracelets to send to Nicaragua, and other projects. I understand the laughter is priceless. If you desire to go deeper in God's Word, Alyssa Faith leads a Bible study on Wednesday nights from 6:15-7:00 (no homework required). Vicky Carlisle leads Precept Bible studies on Sunday nights from 5:00-7:00, which do require homework.

WHAT IS THE MISSION OF THIS MINISTRY?

The mission of Women's Ministry is to provide opportunities for women to grow in the body of Christ and help them become more devoted followers of Him.

WHO DO I CONTACT?

Alyssa Faith and Lovita Greer lead this ministry. Click on their names to email them.
